Insecurity has been especially damaging for the nearly 240,000 recently displaced children living in the vast camps around Goma. Violence by armed groups has forced thousands of families from their homes in search of safety, preventing their children from attending school.

Access to Education

The severe traumas experienced by refugee and migrant children require a variety of traditional and non-traditional educational services to help them endure and survive their situation. But the good news is that organization like CWC and many other across the global community are responding to this massive calamity. This crisis demands a cooperative humanitarian response aimed at providing education with accompanying psycho-social support specifically designed to meet the challenges facing today’s refugee children. What is needed is a coordinated effort that maximizes all available resources and capabilities and addresses issues of access to education for all children.

The Education is our focus

CWC is supporting the construction of Temporary Learning Spaces and providing school materials to students, in addition to training teachers on relevant topics including child psychosocial support.

Forge Girl’s Education

A girl’s education changes everything. An educated girl is more likely to grow up healthy, safe and empowered to determine the course of her life and future. She’ll decide when she’s ready for marriage and children. She’ll likely send her children to school – and even live a longer life. We understand the importance of education for girl children.

We do whatever it takes to ensure every last child has a chance to grow up healthy, educated and safe – her best chance for a bright future. With your help, we can educate girls who may not otherwise have the chance to learn — changing the course of their lives, their children’s lives and the future of their communities.
