CONFLICT PREVENTION & MANAGEMENT

The absence of effective governance structures in eastern DRC has given rise to multiple security risks, threatening the peace and stability of the region. The emergence of armed groups in the region, has caused an increase in violent crime, land-based conflict and displacement. Young people have been particularly affected by the instability, largely as a result of the frequent abduction of youth.

CWC is working to address this issue and strengthen young people’s involvement in conflict prevention and Management in areas affected by the war in the DRC.

Involving Youth in Conflict Prevention & Management in DRC

Through workshops and learning events, CWC is providing young men and women with the vital skills to undertake conflict prevention and Management work in their own communities and support the reintegration of returnees.

Effective and sustainable conflict prevention and management: the objective is to make the region effective and sustainable peacemakers because by selecting multidiscipline, intellectual elites, young students (…), young military police officers, opinion leaders continuing the conflict prevention and management training and that everyone plays their role as indicated by their basic status and role as peacemaker in a coherent system of peace by remaining the sentinel for the benefit of their Congolese nation. peace will be the fortress for the region. The government is called upon to become more involved in training and must be continuous from the base to the top with the aim of “being trained for the sake of training”.

Local Peace Committees in DRC

Local Peace Committees and Local Protection Committees have long been present in this region, and they are usually mobilised and more active during periods of instability and conflict. Traditionally, protection committees track the location of armed groups, and provide early warning of possible attacks. Along with our civil society partners in this region, We are working to provide training in conflict analysis, early warning strategies and conflict prevention to fight against  conflicts over issues such as land ownership, conflicts between refugees and host communities, different ethnic groups against other communities and war refugees.
These groups, which in the past have had to fill a security vacuum, are now providing a vital link between communities and local authorities. They’re establishing better relations between young people and the military, and representing communities in meetings of regional authorities and security councils.

Our Success starts Here

Young people are too often seen as agitators of conflict or as victims. Their potential in resolving conflicts has remained largely underutilised and they are excluded in local decision-making and wider political processes.

However, We do believe that through our  workshops and learning events, we are providing young men and women with the vital skills to undertake conflict prevention work in their own communities.

Clean the World with Compassion

God has created human being to be in the center of their lives, their development by ensuring their own economic self-sufficiency in a responsible social and cultural environment which engenders recognition of the inherent dignity, equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family and bringing about lasting (durable) peace in order to build on the unity which is not uniformity but diversity in this wonderful planet.
