Fighting Inequality & Marginalization

Challenging Inequality

We believe in the inherent dignity of all people. Yet around the world, billions of people are excluded from full participation in the political, economic, and cultural systems that shape their lives.

Understanding Global Inequality

Understanding global inequality starts with recognizing that not everyone enjoys the same rights, treatment, and opportunities. If you face generational poverty or gender discrimination, these barriers to equality can have profound implications for the kind of life you want to live. structural inequality based on gender, race, class, disability, and ethnicity persists around the world and is compounded and complicated by today’s challenges. Gender-based violence—rooted in discrimination and laws, policies … inflicts deep, lasting physical, psychological, and economic damage.

Where you’re born or live shouldn’t determine your future, but for too many people, inequality squanders human potential. We need to clearly see the fundamental unfairness and dangers of highly unequal societies, and we must take action to help more people enjoy the freedoms to live a full and healthy life.

Our Success starts Here

  • We’re Addressing political inequalities by increased awareness on human rights, including related obligations and responsibilities; strengthening leadership and access to information and decision-making forums for excluded groups; furthering their organisation and networking; and facilitating access to justice and remedies.

We fight against environmental inequalities, and support to the poorest women and men to have equal access to natural resources.

Cycles of Inequality

In the Eastern Congo, we do share a deep understanding of the intricate link between disasters and inequality.

It’s a narrative of uneven access to crucial resources, leaving the most vulnerable exposed to the impacts of disasters such as volcano eruption. When disasters strike, they disproportionately affect marginalized communities, exacerbating existing inequalities and pushing them deeper into poverty. Fighting inequality is critical to build a stronger and safer future for everyone.
